One of the good things about having a blog is that it makes my pinterest addiction semi-legitimate. I have to get inspiration somewhere right? Right? One of my favorite new design trends that is currently all over Pinterest is a rug in the kitchen. So simple (so anyone can pull it off), and yet it really ups the aesthetic.
I love the intricate patterns of persian-style rugs. They’re everywhere right now because they make a huge impact. I especially love the brightly colored ones. They really add a punch to a neutral kitchen. I tried laying this rug down in front of my oven to see how I liked the look in my own kitchen. Turns out I love it!
The rug I used was too big to lay down in front of the sink, so I placed mine between the oven and the island. (Again, just to get a feel for the trend). So, now I’m on the hunt for a similarly patterned, bright rug that will fit in front of the sink. This rug has gone back to it’s home in the foyer.
My one concern with trying this trend is how often I’ll have to clean the rug. J and I both like to cook so the kitchen floor can get pretty dirty. My top priority in finding a rug (besides aesthetic) is that it be washable. Let the hunt begin!
Have you tried this trend? If you have any suggestions for brightly patterned, washable rugs, leave them in the comments.
