Hi Guys! Remember back in March when I said I wanted to make over my sunroom? Well, I finally finished it over the weekend and today’s the big reveal!
Here’s the before picture:
I had been going for more of an Americana theme when I first decorated, hence all of the red, white, and blue. For the makeover, I wanted something more bohemian and relaxed. Here is the after:
I switched out the blue and white rug in favor of a yellow and gray striped runner layered with a white shag rug. I also added a bright floral pillow to the couch for an added pop of color. My favorite part though is the new plant!
Let’s see how long I can keep it alive! It was only $14 at Home Depot so it’s low risk from a cost perspective. I picked up some potting soil there as well and then repotted it into this pot from Target. Then I put the whole thing in this basket. (A couple tips: I laid a plastic plant tray in the bottom of the basket before putting the potted plant in there. I also poured water mixed hydrogen peroxide into the soil – this kills the tiny gnats that are often in soil. ) I love how it turned out! It pairs so well with the wicker chair I already had out there. (I took this one from my mom’s house, but Ikea has a similar option.)
I also planted some herbs and set them on the window sills between the kitchen and sunroom. I planted basil, chives, and parsley. I’m looking forward to cooking with fresh herbs all summer.
I only made a few simple (and inexpensive) changes, but it changed the whole feel of the room. I’m really happy with how it turned out. It’ll be getting tons of use over the next six months!
Do you have any rooms that need a refresh? I love browsing Pinterest for home decor inspiration. It’s amazing the impact a few small changes can make.
