The Week in Links Vol. 9

The Week in Links Vol. 9

Friday, I thought you’d never get here! Anybody else have a long week? Lucky for us it’s Cinco de Mayo, so it’d be wrong not to have a margarita! Speaking of, have you tried my coconut margarita hack yet? Or if you prefer classic margaritas, try this recipe. On the rocks with salt, please!

Tomorrow is 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby. My (Monopoly) money is on J Boys Echo! Do you watch? Will you pick a horse? Attending (and wearing a fab hat) is on my bucket list. Some year.

Whatever your plans, I hope you have a great weekend. Here are this week’s links:

The Met Gala is my favorite red carpet of the year. I love that it’s a chance to go a bit rogue and have some fun. Standouts for me were Rhianna, Fei Fei Sun, Zendaya, and Dakota Johnson. I like when people embrace the theme and get a little funky. Check out Vogue’s red carpet slideshow. Who wins the carpet for you?

Humans of New York did a Met Gala series that I really enjoyed reading. The quotes were very sweet and humanizing. Sometimes I think we forget that celebs are people too. Do you follow HONY? If not, stop what you’re doing and give them a follow right now. I remember someone characterizing the HONY community as the nicest commenters on the internet and that’s definitely true. All of Brandon’s series are excellent!

I want to add some greenery to my house. This post is major inspo. I don’t exactly have a green thumb, but my apartment has a ton of windows and it gets good sunlight so I’m hoping that will help. Anyone have any planting tips for me?

I really enjoyed this New Yorker article on Pope Francis. I particularly like this quote, “Please, allow me to say it loud and clear: the more powerful you are, the more your actions will have an impact on people, the more responsible you are to act humbly.”

I ordered these jeans from Old Navy this week. I feel like they could go either way: they’re either going to be my  new favorite jeans or they’re going to look really frumpy on. I’m hoping for the first one!! Stay tuned.

On that note, happy weekend friends!

  1. I love your link to the plant inspiration! I’ve pinned so many plant arrangements to Pinterest, but to be honest, I haven’t got a clue how to really take care of them, haha. I would just say, buy them, read the care instructions and hope for the best 😉

    1. I’m glad I’m not the only one pinning plants who has no idea how to care for them! I bought one today and I’m doing some research on how to keep it alive! Baby steps!
